New Gate Control System Installation - 7th April 2008
Work has started to install an automated gate control system at the West End of the site which should be completed this week. Improvements to security and safety have been paramount considerations throughout this project which was requested at last year's AGM.

Instructions on how to use the system will be issued as soon as it is commissioned. As well as the benefit of preventing unauthorised entry to this remote end of the site (especially during periods of low occupancy), pedestrian controlled access will be provided (for the dog walkers amongst you), children will be protected from the road outside, the warden won't have to lock-up each night and the one-way traffic system, (which becomes two-way over night!) can be in force 24 hours a day.

End of Season Event - October 2007
End of Season Event We've almost reached the end of another season at Selby, which means it's time for a clear-up weekend and end of season event. This year's clear-up will be held on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October.

In particular this year, we have been asked by our Site Licensing Officer to clear out some of the overgrown hedgerows around the site perimeter and we will have a skip on site for disposing of site rubbish. Your last opportunity to get your plot spick and span ready for a new year!

Don't forget to come along on Saturday evening to reward all of your hard work at our end of season event, with a BBQ - hot pumpkin soup and apple pies on offer, as well as apple bobbing and other games for the kids and even a few fireworks.

Thank You to EVERYONE for another great Selby Fete Day - September 2007
Selby Fete 2007 Our annual Selby Fete was a great success again this year thanks to the time and work put in by many of our members.

Firstly, a special thank you to Sheila and Brian Calderwood for organising all of our regular fete events - races, fancy dress, auction, bingo, quiz night, karaoke...etc. and a few new ones! Also a big thank you to Karen and Adam Grey for the kids party in the mini-marquee which will hopefully become a regular feature.

Of course we also need to thank all of those that helped with putting up bunting, erecting the marquee (with Arthur's supervision) and holding stalls on the day. Our treasurer Colin kept us all in check handling the money, Terry did a great job preparing the site for our big day and Chris the farmer kindly lent us a 'carpark' for the day.

Last but by no means least thank you all for coming along and joining in with your family and friends on the day!

Thanks for a great BBQ & Boogie night! - 30th July 2007
BBQ & Boogie night! The BBQ and Boogie night proved a great success with kids wearing themselves out on the bouncy castle and families gathered around the BBQ enjoying the excellent food, laughter, fun and games.

Three cheers for Stressen & Karen (and their little helpers) for all of their hard work. Even the sun decided to shine on Selby.

BBQ & Boogie night - 28th July 2007
BBQ & Boogie night! Come and enjoy the music, food and good company at our BBQ & Boogie night on Saturday 28th July.

Don't forget to bring your own meat for barbequing, drinks and tables and chairs to make yourselves comfy in the marquee. For the kids we also hope to have a bouncy castle, so put this date in your diary, 4.30pm, Saturday 28th July.

If you can offer any help with organising and setting up this event please contact the committee. We'd love to hear from you.

6th May Open House - 1st May 2007
Open House Over the winter months, our rather tatty warden’s house has undergone some amazing transformations. With a lot of hard work from Selby members and friends we have managed to turn the tired house into a proper home ready for our new warden.

Terry & Jo have very kindly agreed to hold an ‘Open House’ after the AGM on Sunday 6th May, so please pop in to meet our new warden and see the results for yourselves!

Meet Our New Warden! - 1st May 2007
Meet our new wardenWe're very pleased to introduce Terry Mitchell, our new Warden, who is accompanied on site by his partner, Jo Parker.

Terry joins us from Newbeach Holiday Park where he has been employed for over five years, carrying out all sorts of maintenance work, including carpentry. He holds qualifications in caravan placement and should prove a valuable asset to us over the forthcoming years.

Terry and Jo will soon 'learn the ropes' and be able to fit in to the 'ethos' that is so important to our well-being and we know you will all join us in welcoming this delightful couple to Selby Field and help to make their stay with us an enjoyable experience.

New Marquee Storage Shed Arrives - 24th February 2007
New marquee storage shedA brand new shed, primarily for the safe and secure storage of our marquee, arrived on site and was erected on Friday.

Our old shed, having been rotten and condemned for many years, was quickly cleared and burnt to provide space for the new arrival.

The new shed will allow us to store the marquee in the secure dry conditions it needs to keep it in tiptop condition for many years to come, and will also provide space for other large items of equipment.

'Clear-Up' Weekend - 28th/29th October 2006
Clear-Up WeekendThe sun shone on Selby for the final ‘Clear-Up’ weekend. Members were busily attacking overgrown hedges around their vans and a few hardened souls perched precariously on the top of ladders pruning trees.

Members young and old worked enthusiastically, dragging, carrying and transporting the deadly Hawthorn and prunings to the car park where the fire burned all day long.

Later Saturday afternoon, weary but satisfied, with work accomplished we all enjoyed each others convivial company whilst sipping hot pumpkin soup and dunking our rolls. While we ate our barbequed sausages and tucked into apple pies and cream, fireworks lit the sky as Selby came to a close for the season. Click here to view pictures.

New Committee Members Wanted!
New Committee Members WantedAs a co-partnership association, it is very important that we ensure that a sufficient number of members are available to serve upon the Selby Field Committee.

We are currently very short of Committee members, including the posts of Secretary, Fire Warden and Entertainments, so if you think you can spare one Sunday morning a month (that's just 12 mornings a year) to help to keep Selby running, please put your name forward on the 'Our Committee' section of our website, by clicking here.
