Our Committee
Selby Field Co-Partnership Caravan Association is not only owned, but it is also run by it's own members.
A Management Committee is elected, from within the shareholder membership, comprising three Officers, a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, in post for a three year term, and up to eight lay members serving for one year or more each.
All shareholders are encouraged to serve on committee for at least one term during their residency on site. This is necessary in order to provide the broad spectrum of opinion, skill and ability which all successful committees should possess. It also demonstrates a commitment to share the workload.
The committee meets at least once per month throughout the year to deliberate upon any and all matters pertaining to the smooth running of the site. The main venue for these meetings is the Chapman Committee Room at the house, or, on occasion, they have, for convenience, been convened at a member’s home.
Our committee is an entirely voluntary function and is formed from dedicated members of Selby Field who contribute, in whatever way they can, towards maintaining the tranquility, environs and future of our beautiful site. As volunteers they give of their time and skills selflessly for the benefit of all.
As well as controlling fiscal matters the committee also manages all aspects of the day to day running of the site.
By its very nature, a committee cannot please all of the people all of the time but by adhering to the "rules" and providing transparent and fair interpretations, it is hoped that the "ethos", around which Selby Field was founded, will prevail.
Our committee provides all members with a single, central point of contact to address their concerns and views, a means to raise matters with regard to site operations and provisions, but above all to communicate relevant information to those concerned.
In fairness to members of the committee, shareholders should only address matters they wish to raise, in writing, via the suggestion box or by letter to the secretary.
In the spring of each year an Annual General Meeting is hosted, whereupon the committee are able to report directly to members on the financial well-being of the Association as well as any projects, events and achievements of the previous 12 months.
It is also the opportunity to stand for, and be elected to committee, and to make formal proposals for changes to rules or other matters which are deemed outside of the committees remit, and which require endorsement by the shareholders.
