Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway
Miniature railway with a huge reputation! The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway is the ‘World’s Smallest Public Railway’, running 13 and a half miles from Hythe to the beaches of Dungeness, passing through, Dymchurch, New Romney and Romney Sands along the way. You can find details of train times and fares on the railway’s webpage and also the diary of special events, such as ‘Jazz trains’, ‘Santa Specials’ and of course ‘Thomas the Tank Engine trips’. South of England Rare Breeds Centre
A whole farmyard full of animals to meet, nature trails to follow, trailer rides, adventure trails, a butterfly tunnel, plant nursery, play barn… gasp for breath... I couldn’t possibly list everything that this amazing place has to offer, you’ll just have to see it for yourself. If you can manage to visit on a summer weekend, you’ll even get to join in the pig racing!

St. Leonard’s Church
Or, as we’ve always referred to it ‘The Church with the Bones’! St. Leonard’s Church has sat on the hillside overlooking Hythe since 1080. If you are brave enough to descend into the crypt, you’ll see the staggering collection of over 2,000 human skulls and 8,000 thigh bones that make up the ossuary. There are several explanations for such a gruesome collection, but the most likely is that they were dug up and kept safe in storage at a time when burial plots were routinely re-used. Dem bones, dem bones… dem dry bones!

Brenzett Aeronautical Museum Trust
Brenzett Museum is a unique collection of wartime equipment, remains recovered from aircraft crash sites and memorabilia collected and donated to the museum over the last 35 years. The museum is located on the Ivychurch Airstrip, which was commissioned by the Air Ministry in 1942, and completed, for use by Spitfire IX’s in 1943. The museum buildings were used by the Women’s Land Army hostel during the war, and contain not only a range of exhibits from the war, but also from the local history of Romney Marsh.
