Hythe Swimming Pool

Hythe Swimming Pool

If you fancy donning your inflatable arm bands, and dusting off your swimming cossie Hythe Swimming Pool, has a 25m main pool and a separate teaching pool. Swimming lessons held at the pool are extremely popular, and there is a fitness suite and training room for those not keen on getting wet.

Sene Valley Golf Club

Sene Valley Golf Club

I have never played a round of golf in my life, but apparently even I could appreciate the scenic views of the English Channel that this course has to offer. For those that know about these sorts of things, although not long this course does have it’s fair share of blind tees making it tricky for those new to it, and it’s exposed position can add to the challenge on windy days. Fore!

Hythe Rowing Boats

Hythe Rowing Boats

You might get a little bit further along the canal by foot in an hour, but it wouldn’t involve nearly so much water or laughs. Throughout the summer, you can hire rowing boats from a small hut next to the canal footbridge leading to Ladies Walk. Just be prepared to be overtaken by ducks!

No website, but times and prices for rowing boat hire are displayed on a board outside the hut.

Dungeness Nature Reserve

Dungeness Nature Reserve

There is nowhere quite like Dungeness, and from the RSPB’s reserve you can really appreciate the uniqueness of this area and it’s attractiveness to our feathered friends. The reserve covers a large area of shingle interspersed with pools and a lake and provides a visitors centre as well as several hides, and nature trails. Don’t forget your binoculars, and wrap up warm!

Herons Park & Lydd International Raceway

Herons Park & Lydd International Raceway

For those of you that like your activities to be of the slightly more extreme variety, Herons Park has to be the place to go. Karting Minimotos, 4x4s, paintball and clay pigeon shooting - all good fun, muddy and thrilling. If you’d feel safer just watching, there is always a packed calendar of events that you can go and be a spectator at, usually for free.

LyddAir Fly & Dine

LyddAir Fly & Dine

Okay, so perhaps this activity could also be a ‘Place to Eat’, but either way it looks like fun to me. Lydd Air now offer lunch and dinner Fly ‘n’ Dines. Whichever flight you choose will begin with a welcome drink, and a briefing from your Captain before your 20 minute flight over the Romney Marshes and Dungeness Peninsula. Back on terra firma you will enjoy a silver service meal at the restaurant. Any birthdays or anniversarys coming up soon?
